Kayaking Club

Friday’s from 10:30am to 1:30pm

May through June

Locations vary but may include Petersburg, Selkirk, Saratoga, Halfmoon, and Grafton (calendar of specific location, dates, and times will be emailed out to participants)

Appropriate water wear, water shoes, and sun protection– we will be spending hours in the water and elements. Bathing suits and other water wear will be expected, at a minimum, to cover shoulders, back, bellies, and the top portion of thighs. We highly recommend rash guards and hats with as much coverage as possible for maximum comfort and protection. Each member is responsible for their sun protection. Coaches and volunteers are not permitted to help apply or share sun block creams or sprays unless specially designated by a parent or guardian. We highly encourage relying on hats and rash guards for primary sun and wind protection. For those especially sensitive to the sun we encourage a waterproof sunblock for the lips and body that can last up to 3 hours. Participants must wear their water shoes.

Towel and a dry change of clothes– this one is optional but highly encouraged

Food and water– each week we will be stopping to eat and fellowship as a group. You will get thirsty spending all that time on and in the water so fill those water bottles up!

Kayaks!– that is pretty good news, huh? We love to keep things simple in our programs. We do offer a $100 discount off registration for those who prefer to bring their own kayak, paddle, and life jacket for every session.

Water Shoes– we do insist members wear water shoes to each event. Participants may elect to wear their own water shoes so long as they cover the heels, soles, and toes of their feet. (Crocs and flip flops are not acceptable)

Life jackets and safety devices– we will have life jackets on every participant in a kayak. We also provide safety flags, whistles, and lots of safety education!

Supervisions- coaches and volunteers are equipped and trained to supervise members on the water and shore.

First Aid Kit- coaches and volunteers will provide necessary first aid as needed. Please provide staff with any needed medical equipment and information (example: epipen, allergy info,
